The Abingdon Feeder Cattle Associationwill offer approximately 2,100 Virginia Quality Assured (VQA) feeder calves on WEDNESDAY, August 21st at 7:00 pm. Calves will be sold as tractor-trailer load lots (47,000 to 50,000#'s). Calves are predominantly Angus bred. A typical load consists of 90% black and black-white face and 10% Charolais crosses (with no purebred Charolais included). Charolais cross cattle are from Hereford and Angus.
All of the calves are:
· Weaned a minimum of 45 Days
· Feed and water trough broken
· Backgrounded on hay, pasture and commodity mix. None of the cattle are backgrounded on “feedlot-type” rations.
· Vaccinated according to product label directions for 7-way Clostridials, Modified-live viruses (IBR, PI3, BRSV, BVD I & II) and Pasteurella. Calves also dewormed.
